My Son Michael's Symptoms of LDS PDF Print E-mail

The symptons outlined below are symptoms which my son Michael has evident. They are listed here to help the lay person be aware so that further testing can either confirm or deny the presence of the disorder. For a more complete list see the list titled Clinical Characteristics.

Soft Cleft Palate Having a seperation of the soft palate which required surgery.
Club Feet Feet severly distorted requiring surgery.
Osteoperosis Weak bones or spinal column
no family history of Marfan In our case no previous history was related to the disorder. This was confirmed by genetic testing of both parents.
Early Cranial bone fusion. Called craniosynostosis.
Head Misshape In Mike's case this led to a false diagnosis of the condition commonly referred to as "water on the brain"
Scoliosis abnormal side-to-side (lateral) curves in the spinal column.
Hypertelorism wide-spaced eyes
Arterial Tortuosity Corkscrew arteries
Malar Hypoplasia flat cheekbones
Retrognathia recessed chin
Dolichostenomelia long, narrow body type
Pectus deformity sunken or protruding chest bone
Cervical spine instability slippage of bones in the neck
